Day 4

With 3 days under my belt, I am hoping the next two days go smoothly. I am not craving any bad good, and actually craving broccoli/quinoa from Dig Inn. It's great. Normally I would be craving something involving bacon.

Because I made two days worth of green juice tonight, I only have to make cashew milk. A nice change from juicing...it's a LOT of work!

Since I'm basically done with the grocery shopping piece, I'm going to grand tally:

$35- Produce Day 1
$18- Agave, Vanilla, Water Bottles (6)
$25- Produce Day 2 (had leftover groceries from Day 1)
$25- Produce Day 4 (had so much green juice that I made it through Day 3 w/o buying groceries)
$1- Produce Day 5 (two lemons for the spicy lemonade. All the green juice has been made!)

Grand Total
for a 5 Day Cleanse: $104!!
Breakdown per day: $20.80

That is INFINITELY cheaper than the BPC at $65 a day!

Day 4 Preparation

So, having some leftover groceries from the last grocery run, I had to still buy some groceries to supplement Day 4 and Day 5. I took a different approach and decided to make 2 days in one night to save time. I realize the effectiveness of the cleanse is to have the freshest juice possible, but sometimes, reality steps in and convenience prevails.

The total for groceries: $26

For Day 4-5, I will be switching to the Excavation Cleanse, which includes 4 green juices, 1 lemonade and 1 cashew milk. BPC includes ginger as an added ingredient in the second green juice of the day, just to give it some differentiation. Since I was making a major batch, I just added ginger to all of them. Ginger really does help break up the green drink rut and get you through the last two days.

Day 3

The blueprint cleanse really is like the days of the work week-

Monday-

Is hardest to start, but once you get rolling, somehow you get through it easily.

Tuesday-
Is arguably the toughest day, because you've gone too far now to turn back, yet you're no where near close to being done.

Wednesday-

Hump day- this is the beloved half way mark that sparks a renewed sense of purpose!

Thursday-

With 3 days successfully under your belt, and the end being so near, this is an easy day.

Friday-

Victory! The pride of knowing you're almost done, and you can see freedom on the horizon is just uplifting.

Day 3 has come and gone, and it really has been an easy road, providing you drink a ton of tea to get you through the hunger pangs between drinks.

Day 3 Preparation

Because I had had so much leftover green juice from the night before prep, I only needed to make a little bit, and it went smoothly. I've mastered the juice/cleanup/juice/cleanup that is required of a smaller juicer.

The cashew milk came out phenomenally, because I finally realized you're suppose to grind the cashews completely (on "liquify" mode on your blender). What a delicious treat! I totally plan on making this for a nice dessert alternative post cleanse.

Total cost for today was $0! This was due to so much leftover green juice and leftover groceries. I really need to figure out what the ideal recipe amounts are.

Day Two

In terms of how I feel today, it's very typical of a Day 2...woke up with a dull headache that went away after drinking some water. I'm alert, slightly hungry and keenly aware that I have 4 days to go. But mind over matter!

Some tips to get you through the worst of the worst (Day 2-3):
  1.  Drink room temp water as soon as you get up. It helps...um...you know...move things along.
  2. Drink tons of water throughout the day to keep hydrated and keep dull headaches at bay
  3. Try to keep busy (I usually try to do the cleanse over a weekend to keep my activity level high (or to sleep through the painful withdrawals). But work is good too, as long as you can be strong to the lunchtime pressures.
  4. Find a really decadent caffeine free herbal tea, so it feels like you're having something special. I love Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset.
  5. Try to exercise or at least go to the sauna if possible- the goal is to detox out the nasty stuff your body has been harboring.
